in fact, it’s DXVA support that’s important !!!
so ati (avivo) and/or nvidia (purevideo) hardware decompression is used!!!!!
the three free players supporting dxva:
- http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/ –> media player classic home cinema
- http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/news.html –> mplayer
- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_KMPlayer –> kmplayer
otherwise powerdvd 7 and higher and windvd… supports it…
for vlc it’s a long shot for native dxva support…

the up to date version of mplayer for windows… but I’m not sure it supports dxva…
